How tracked shutters work
Instead of hinges, tracked shutters hang from a ceiling-mounted or top-fixed track. Panels glide along the rail and stack neatly to one or both sides when you want full access to the opening. This makes them perfect for wide spans where hinged shutters would protrude too far into the room.
The track is discreet — typically a slim aluminium rail that blends with the ceiling or lintel.
Best applications for tracked shutters
Bi-fold doors, large patio doors, and floor-to-ceiling glazing are the primary use cases. Tracked shutters also work as stylish room dividers in open-plan living spaces.
For narrower openings like French doors, hinged full height shutters may be more practical. Your surveyor will recommend the best approach.
Material choices
Aluminium is the most popular material for tracked shutters because it handles wide spans without flexing. Our Dura Aluminium range is specifically engineered for tracked applications. Hardwood and composite tracked systems are available for smaller openings.
